2 Timothy 1

1	Paulus Apostolus Jesu Christi per voluntatem Dei, secundum promissionem vitæ, quæ est in Christo Jesu,	Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, by the will of God, according to the promise of life, which is in Christ Jesus.
2	Timotheo carissimo filio : gratia, misericordia, pax a Deo Patre, et Christo Jesu Domino nostro.	To Timothy my dearly beloved son, grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from Christ Jesus our Lord.
3	Gratias ago Deo, cui servio a progenitoribus in conscientia pura, quod sine intermissione habeam tui memoriam in orationibus meis, nocte ac die	I give thanks to God, whom I serve from my forefathers with a pure conscience, that without ceasing, I have a remembrance of thee in my prayers, night and day.
4	desiderans te videre, memor lacrimarum tuarum, ut gaudio implear,	Desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy,
5	recordationem accipiens ejus fidei, quæ est in te non ficta, quæ et habitavit primum in avia tua Loide, et matre tua Eunice, certus sum autem quod et in te.	Calling to mind that faith which is in thee unfeigned, which also dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and in thy mother Eunice, and I am certain that in thee also.
6	Propter quam causam admoneo te ut resuscites gratiam Dei, quæ est in te per impositionem manuum mearum.	For which cause I admonish thee, that thou stir up the grace of God which is in thee, by the imposition of my hands.
7	Non enim dedit nobis Deus spiritum timoris : sed virtutis, et dilectionis, et sobrietatis.	For God hath not given us the spirit of fear: but of power, and of love, and of sobriety.
8	Noli itaque erubescere testimonium Domini nostri, neque me vinctum ejus : sed collabora Evangelio secundum virtutem Dei :	Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but labour with the gospel, according to the power of God,
9	qui nos liberavit, et vocavit vocatione sua sancta, non secundum opera nostra, sed secundum propositum suum, et gratiam, quæ data est nobis in Christo Jesu ante tempora sæcularia.	Who hath delivered us and called us by his holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the times of the world.
10	Manifestata est autem nunc per illuminationem Salvatoris nostri Jesu Christi, qui destruxit quidem mortem, illuminavit autem vitam, et incorruptionem per Evangelium :	But is now made manifest by the illumination of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath destroyed death, and hath brought to light life and incorruption by the gospel:
11	in quo positus sum ego prædicator, et Apostolus, et magister gentium.	Wherein I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and teacher of the Gentiles.
12	Ob quam causam etiam hæc patior, sed non confundor. Scio enim cui credidi, et certus sum quia potens est depositum meum servare in illum diem.	For which cause I also suffer these things: but I am not ashamed. For I know whom I have believed, and I am certain that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him, against that day.
13	Formam habe sanorum verborum, quæ a me audisti in fide, et in dilectione in Christo Jesu.	Hold the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me in faith, and in the love which is in Christ Jesus.
14	Bonum depositum custodi per Spiritum Sanctum, qui habitat in nobis.	Keep the good thing committed to thy trust by the Holy Ghost, who dwelleth in us.
15	Scis hoc, quod aversi sunt a me omnes, qui in Asia sunt, ex quibus est Phigellus, et Hermogenes.	Thou knowest this, that all they who are in Asia, are turned away from me: of whom are Phigellus and Hermogenes.
16	Det misericordiam Dominus Onesiphori domui : quia sæpe me refrigeravit, et catenam meam non erubuit :	The Lord give mercy to the house of Onesiphorus: because he hath often refreshed me, and hath not been ashamed of my chain:
17	sed cum Romam venisset, sollicite me quæsivit, et invenit.	But when he was come to Rome, he carefully sought me, and found me.
18	Det illi Dominus invenire misericordiam a Domino in illa die. Et quanta Ephesi ministravit mihi, tu melius nosti.	The Lord grant unto him to find mercy of the Lord in that day: and in how many things he ministered unto me at Ephesus, thou very well knowest.

2 Timothy 2

1	Tu ergo fili mi, confortare in gratia, quæ est in Christo Jesu :	Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace which is in Christ Jesus:
2	et quæ audisti a me per multos testes, hæc commenda fidelibus hominibus, qui idonei erant et alios docere.	And the things which thou hast heard of me by many witnesses, the same commend to faithful men, who shall be fit to teach others also.
3	Labora sicut bonus miles Christi Jesu.	Labour as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.
4	Nemo militans Deo implicat se negotiis sæcularibus : ut ei placeat, cui se probavit.	No man, being a soldier to God, entangleth himself with secular businesses; that he may please him to whom he hath engaged himself.
5	Nam et qui certat in agone, non coronatur nisi legitime certaverit.	For he also that striveth for the mastery, is not crowned, except he strive lawfully.
6	Laborantem agricolam oportet primum de fructibus percipere.	The husbandman, that laboureth, must first partake of the fruits.
7	Intellige quæ dico : dabit enim tibi Dominus in omnibus intellectum.	Understand what I say: for the Lord will give thee in all things understanding.
8	Memor esto Dominum Jesum Christum resurrexisse a mortuis ex semine David, secundum Evangelium meum,	Be mindful that the Lord Jesus Christ is risen again from the dead, of the seed of David, according to my gospel.
9	in quo laboro usque ad vincula, quasi male operans : sed verbum Dei non est alligatum.	Wherein I labour even unto bands, as an evildoer; but the word of God is not bound.
10	Ideo omnia sustineo propter electos, ut et ipsi salutem consequantur, quæ est in Christo Jesu, cum gloria cælesti.	Therefore I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation, which is in Christ Jesus, with heavenly glory.
11	Fidelis sermo : nam si commortui sumus, et convivemus :	A faithful saying: for if we be dead with him, we shall live also with him.
12	si sustinebimus, et conregnabimus : si negaverimus, et ille negabit nos :	If we suffer, we shall also reign with him. If we deny him, he will also deny us.
13	si non credimus, ille fidelis permanet, negare seipsum non potest.	If we believe not, he continueth faithful, he can not deny himself.
14	Hæc commone, testificans coram Domino. Noli contendere verbis : ad nihil enim utile est, nisi ad subversionem audientium.	Of these things put them in mind, charging them before the Lord. Contend not in words, for it is to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.
15	Sollicite cura teipsum probabilem exhibere Deo, operarium inconfusibilem, recte tractantem verbum veritatis.	Carefully study to present thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.
16	Profana autem et vaniloquia devita : multum enim proficiunt ad impietatem :	But shun profane and vain babblings: for they grow much towards ungodliness.
17	et sermo eorum ut cancer serpit : ex quibus est Hymenæus et Philetus,	And their speech spreadeth like a canker: of whom are Hymeneus and Philetus:
18	qui a veritate exciderunt, dicentes resurrectionem esse jam factam, et subverterunt quorumdam fidem.	Who have erred from the truth, saying, that the resurrection is past already, and have subverted the faith of some.
19	Sed firmum fundamentum Dei stat, habens signaculum hoc : cognovit Dominus qui sunt ejus, et discedat ab iniquitate omnis qui nominat nomen Domini.	But the sure foundation of God standeth firm, having this seal: the Lord knoweth who are his; and let every one depart from iniquity who nameth the name of the Lord.
20	In magna autem domo non solum sunt vasa aurea, et argentea, sed et lignea, et fictilia : et quædam quidem in honorem, quædam autem in contumeliam.	But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and earth: and some indeed unto honour, but some unto dishonour.
21	Si quis ergo emundaverit se ab istis, erit vas in honorem sanctificatum, et utile Domino ad omne opus bonum paratum.	If any man therefore shall cleanse himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified and profitable to the Lord, prepared unto every good work.
22	Juvenilia autem desideria fuge, sectare vero justitiam, fidem, spem, caritatem, et pacem cum iis qui invocant Dominum de corde puro.	But flee thou youthful desires, and pursue justice, faith, charity, and peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
23	Stultas autem et sine disciplina quæstiones devita : sciens quia generant lites.	And avoid foolish and unlearned questions, knowing that they beget strifes.
24	Servum autem Domini non oportet litigare : sed mansuetum esse ad omnes, docibilem, patientem,	But the servant of the Lord must not wrangle: but be mild towards all men, apt to teach, patient,
25	cum modestia corripientem eos qui resistunt veritati, nequando Deus det illis pœnitentiam ad cognoscendam veritatem,	With modesty admonishing them that resist the truth: if peradventure God may give them repentance to know the truth,
26	et resipiscant a diaboli laqueis, a quo captivi tenentur ad ipsius voluntatem.	And they may recover themselves from the snares of the devil, by whom they are held captive at his will.

2 Timothy 3

1	Hoc autem scito, quod in novissimis diebus instabunt tempora periculosa :	Know also this, that, in the last days, shall come dangerous times.
2	erunt homines seipsos amantes, cupidi, elati, superbi, blasphemi, parentibus non obedientes, ingrati, scelesti,	Men shall be lovers of themselves, covetous, haughty, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, wicked,
3	sine affectione, sine pace, criminatores, incontinentes, immites, sine benignitate,	Without affection, without peace, slanderers, incontinent, unmerciful, without kindness,
4	proditores, protervi, tumidi, et voluptatum amatores magis quam Dei :	Traitors, stubborn, puffed up, and lovers of pleasures more than of God:
5	habentes speciem quidem pietatis, virtutem autem ejus abnegantes. Et hos devita :	Having an appearance indeed of godliness, but denying the power thereof. Now these avoid.
6	ex his enim sunt qui penetrant domos, et captivas ducunt mulierculas oneratas peccatis, quæ ducuntur variis desideriis :	For of these sort are they who creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, who are led away with divers desires:
7	semper discentes, et numquam ad scientiam veritatis pervenientes.	Ever learning, and never attaining to the knowledge of the truth.
8	Quemadmodum autem Jannes et Mambres restiterunt Moysi : ita et hi resistunt veritati, homines corrupti mente, reprobi circa fidem ;	Now as Jannes and Mambres resisted Moses, so these also resist the truth, men corrupted in mind, reprobate concerning the faith.
9	sed ultra non proficient : insipientia enim eorum manifesta erit omnibus, sicut et illorum fuit.	But they shall proceed no farther; for their folly shall be manifest to all men, as theirs also was.
10	Tu autem assecutus es meam doctrinam, institutionem, propositum, fidem, longanimitatem, dilectionem, patientiam,	But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, patience,
11	persecutiones, passiones : qualia mihi facta sunt Antiochiæ, Iconii, et Lystris : quales persecutiones sustinui, et ex omnibus eripuit me Dominus.	Persecutions, afflictions: such as came upon me at Antioch, at Iconium, and at Lystra: what persecutions I endured, and out of them all the Lord delivered me.
12	Et omnes, qui pie volunt vivere in Christo Jesu, persecutionem patientur.	And all that will live godly in Christ Jesus, shall suffer persecution.
13	Mali autem homines et seductores proficient in pejus, errantes, et in errorem mittentes.	But evil men and seducers shall grow worse and worse: erring, and driving into error.
14	Tu vero permane in iis quæ didicisti, et credita sunt tibi : sciens a quo didiceris :	But continue thou in those things which thou hast learned, and which have been committed to thee: knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
15	et quia ab infantia sacras litteras nosti, quæ te possunt instruere ad salutem, per fidem quæ est in Christo Jesu.	And because from thy infancy thou hast known the holy scriptures, which can instruct thee to salvation, by the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16	Omnis Scriptura divinitus inspirata utilis est ad docendum, ad arguendum, ad corripiendum, et erudiendum in justitia :	All scripture, inspired of God, is profitable to teach, to reprove, to correct, to instruct in justice,
17	ut perfectus sit homo Dei, ad omne opus bonum instructus.	That the man of God may be perfect, furnished to every good work.

2 Timothy 4

1	Testificor coram Deo, et Jesu Christo, qui judicaturus est vivos et mortuos, per adventum ipsius, et regnum ejus :	I charge thee, before God and Jesus Christ, who shall judge the living and the dead, by his coming, and his kingdom:
2	prædica verbum, insta opportune, importune : argue, obsecra, increpa in omni patientia, et doctrina.	Preach the word: be instant in season, out of season: reprove, entreat, rebuke in all patience and doctrine.
3	Erit enim tempus, cum sanam doctrinam non sustinebunt, sed ad sua desideria coacervabunt sibi magistros, prurientes auribus,	For there shall be a time, when they will not endure sound doctrine; but, according to their own desires, they will heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears:
4	et a veritate quidem auditum avertent, ad fabulas autem convertentur.	And will indeed turn away their hearing from the truth, but will be turned unto fables.
5	Tu vero vigila, in omnibus labora, opus fac evangelistæ, ministerium tuum imple. Sobrius esto.	But be thou vigilant, labour in all things, do the work of an evangelist, fulfil thy ministry. Be sober.
6	Ego enim jam delibor, et tempus resolutionis meæ instat.	For I am even now ready to be sacrificed: and the time of my dissolution is at hand.
7	Bonum certamen certavi, cursum consummavi, fidem servavi.	I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.
8	In reliquo reposita est mihi corona justitiæ, quam reddet mihi Dominus in illa die, justus judex : non solum autem mihi, sed et iis, qui diligunt adventum ejus. Festina ad me venire cito.	As to the rest, there is laid up for me a crown of justice, which the Lord the just judge will render to me in that day: and not only to me, but to them also that love his coming. Make haste to come to me quickly.
9	Demas enim me reliquit, diligens hoc sæculum, et abiit Thessalonicam :	For Demas hath left me, loving this world, and is gone to Thessalonica:
10	Crescens in Galatiam, Titus in Dalmatiam.	Crescens into Galatia, Titus into Dalmatia.
11	Lucas est mecum solus. Marcum assume, et adduc tecum : est enim mihi utilis in ministerium.	Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry.
12	Tychicum autem misi Ephesum.	But Tychicus I have sent to Ephesus.
13	Penulam, quam reliqui Troade apud Carpum, veniens affer tecum, et libros, maxime autem membranas.	The cloak that I left at Troas, with Carpus, when thou comest, bring with thee, and the books, especially the parchments.
14	Alexander ærarius multa mala mihi ostendit : reddet illi Dominus secundum opera ejus :	Alexander the coppersmith hath done me much evil: the Lord will reward him according to his works:
15	quem et tu devita : valde enim restitit verbis nostris.	Whom do thou also avoid, for he hath greatly withstood our words.
16	In prima mea defensione nemo mihi affuit, sed omnes me dereliquerunt : non illis imputetur.	At my first answer no man stood with me, but all forsook me: may it not be laid to their charge.
17	Dominus autem mihi astitit, et confortavit me, ut per me prædicatio impleatur, et audiant omnes gentes : et liberatus sum de ore leonis.	But the Lord stood by me, and strengthened me, that by me the preaching may be accomplished, and that all the Gentiles may hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
18	Liberavit me Dominus ab omni opere malo : et salvum faciet in regnum suum cæleste, cui gloria in sæcula sæculorum. Amen.	The Lord hath delivered me from every evil work: and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
19	Saluta Priscam, et Aquilam, et Onesiphori domum.	Salute Prisca and Aquila, and the household of Onesiphorus.
20	Erastus remansit Corinthi. Trophimum autem reliqui infirmum Mileti.	Erastus remained at Corinth. And Trophimus I left sick at Miletus.
21	Festina ante hiemem venire. Salutant te Eubulus, et Pudens, et Linus, et Claudia, et fratres omnes.	Make haste to come before winter Eubulus and Pudens, and Linus and Claudia, and all the brethren, salute thee.
22	Dominus Jesus Christus cum spiritu tuo. Gratia vobiscum. Amen.	The Lord Jesus Christ be with thy spirit. Grace be with you. Amen.
